DAVID New York snares Aussie expat Shaun Mcfarlane from GS&P for Associate CD role

Aussie expat Shaun Mcfarlane has joined DAVID New York as Associate Creative Director.

Mcfarlane told CB: “For the longest I admired DAVID’s culture-defining work from thousands of kilometres away in Australia. So it feels a little surreal to be admiring it from just a few millimetres away now. And even with the intimidating mix of talent and kindness everyone here has, the decision to join the crew wasn’t a scary one at all.”

Mcfarlane arrives at the agency from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners New York, where he has spent the past year working across some of the world’s most recognisable brands including Doritos, Netflix and BMW.

Before heading to the U.S., Mcfarlane spent three years at Special Melbourne, contributing to major campaigns for Uber Eats, ANZ, Bonds, AFLW, Red Bull, Shift20, Netflix, Smith’s, PepsiCo, Chobani, Banrock Wines and Cricket Australia. During his tenure, Special was crowned Agency Network of the Year at the AWARD Awards (2022/23) and Campaign Brief Australian Agency of the Year (2020/21).

Prior to Special, Mcfarlane held roles at DDB Melbourne and Noisy Beast.

Across his career, Mcfarlane’s work has been recognised at the world’s top shows, with metal at the Clios, The One Show, ANDYs, D&AD, Cannes Lions, Spikes Asia, AWARD and LIA.
