Creative duo Prue Stent and Asher Paris have launched their latest passion project, Egg Dealers, a community-driven underground business that connects people hungry for eggs with their neighbourhood (egg) dealer.

The global egg shortage is predicted to last for years which is why people are turning to alternative ways to source them, like backyard chickens. But unless you know who these people are, you’re not getting your hands on any eggs.

Paris and Stent knew people had backyard chickens, but had no idea how to connect them with their local community. This thought led them to the well-known urban legend that shoes hanging from power lines mean you can buy drugs nearby.

Says Paris (above right) and Stent (left): “It’s easier to buy drugs than eggs these days. At least that’s what we were told by an unidentified shady character at Coles. We knew we wanted to do some good, and help (egg) addicts get their fix, from the protein-crazed gym rats to Nonna’s on Greek Easter”.

The private WhatsApp group is community-driven, meaning (egg) dealers and people looking for eggs sort out the deal themselves, like real (drug) dealers. So to speak.
