Containers for Change QLD launches new ‘Bincoin’ campaign via Clemenger BBDO
Containers for Change have launched a new campaign to promote its new initiative ‘Bincoin’ via Clemenger BBDO.
The campaign encourages Queenslanders to rethink how they treat their empty bottles and cans, by introducing them to Bincoin; a playful new “currency” designed to highlight the financial value hidden in everyday recycling. With every eligible drink container worth 10 cents, the campaign positions recycling as money that too often ends up in the bin.
The campaign has launched with a TVC directed by Josh Logue and produced by Taxi Film Production, supported by Clemenger BBDO’s broader creative rollout.
Despite strong awareness of the scheme, research shows that many Queenslanders still underestimate the cash or donation potential of container refunds. Each year, more than a billion eligible containers are discarded instead of being redeemed, a missed opportunity worth around $100 million.
The new Bincoin campaign aims to drive greater participation in the program by reframing recycling as a simple way to save or give back.
Containers for Change is run by Container Exchange, the not-for-profit organisation managing Queensland’s container refund scheme. The program allows people to exchange their eligible drink containers for a refund or direct the proceeds to community groups and charities.
