Here’s something to cure the Monday blues: Coca-Cola Great Britain’s summer campaign, via Mother, which launched on the weekend, is centred on a TV commercial titled ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah, La La La’. View the spot

So, so good.
People dancing is a bit gay.
The front bit was kind of fun.
“The man opens the box and it turns into a magical, summery organ… ”
Oh the wank. Definitely typed with the one unoccupied hand.
A glass and a half full of joy… But with more product shots?
I wondered what happened to all those ‘Wookie’ suits from the old Star Wars movies and here they are. Personally, i found the whole spot rather embarassing and no where near as good as animated spot of the same idea a few years back.
At least it’s original. The people dancing would have been a coke wish. Better than people dancing around a beach in coke bubbles…
Cool, apart from the people dancing – WTF?
Pure fun.
Exactly what Coke stands for.
Would it be better if the little furry things were willys?
Oh dear, the “it doesn’t need to make sense, it’s just fun, like our product” trend is now in full swing – All aboard!
Not fun, not funny.
is coca cola australia specifically and coca cola world wide in general the worlds worst marketing company, (but perhaps the worlds best distributor)?
how many times have they failed with mother (the drink not the agency)? on second thoughts with mother the agency as well. remember that spot with the girl handing out bottles of coke. no, neither do i.
this latest effort seems to be a little “i’d like to teach the world to sing”, a little “the muppets”, and a little, “i hope the agency knows what its doing”.
the dancing is very gay
A brand going no where
Random and quirky for the sake of being so and it’s stupid.
Why not have monkeys in tie-dye shirts doing the Macarena and stabbing each other with blunt pencils followed by “Open Happiness”
Had so much potential, then the incoming barrage of gay dancer’s crapped all over the ad.
I actually like it. A lot. It’s a fucking soft drink toss bags! What could there possibly be to say about the world’s most known trademark and product? Oh that’s right we’re into truths… Well that won’t work, it makes you fucking fat.
Summer fun has been Cokes ingredient for decades now. It’s fun. Don’t take yourselves so fucking seriously Joy killers. It has a hell of a lot of cut through and it’s relevant. Kind of makes me want to have a Coke as well. That’s right Coke, not Fanta, not Dr.Pepper, not some shweppes bullshit but Coke.
Anyone remember Flat Eric? Why was he a puppet? What the hell did he have to do with Star-pressed clothes. Nothing. It was just fun and loved. The audience will eat this shit up.
Take it easy 2:24 – does your mother know you speak like that? Personally, this ad makes me wish Pepsi tasted better.
Makes me want to have the kind of coke that the creative team were having when the came up with this ad. Not the icy-cold kind that comes in a bottle, although there may have been some ice involved here also.
Yeah yeah yeah, nuh nuh nuh.
Entertaining, sure but how does this sell Coke? Or more appropriately, how does this increase summer soft drink consumption? Call me old fashioned, but doesn’t advertising exist to sell? Why do we sacrifice the “sell” for entertainment, why can’t we deliver both?
The animated stuff from W&K worked on so many more levels than this. It’s quirky, yes. It’s kind of fun. But it falls way short of some of the better stuff that the brand has done in recent years.
It’s Kirscher’s cat piano
Nothing is new
I wonder why they didn’t call it ‘ a glass and a half of happiness?’ Oh, I suppose coz it’s already been done. La(me) la(me) la(me)
whats with this Jamiroquai soundtrack bullshit?!??!
Yes I’m so glad the ad features an exclusive track, which has been written and produced by electro superstar Calvin Harris.
It made all the difference!!!!
i love the idea. it’s tough coming up with the next great ad in a lineage of outstanding ads…but i think they’ve done it.
the only thing i don’t like about it is the music, and i really don’t like it at all. but many may disagree.
and it’s a water and sugar they’re selling, so good not to be over thought.
I watched it wanting to like it because it’s Mother and so many people dissed it.
But the ‘oh so cool’ people in the ad just ruined it. And the dancing. And everything.
You know what it reminds me of? A 40 something year old white woman with large thighs and a hat on backwards dancing to hip-hop.
In Britain, this would be puss.
9:45 large thighs is what you get if you drink this shit. But I think it’s a cute ad especially for pre-schoolers.
Dougal is king
best work coke has done in years
Try again, dickheads. It’s very different from Gorilla. Play it back – the gremlins’ singing is prompted by squirts of the product. The product is there, and it’s relevant.
Question for you though Lynchy … why’s it on the blog? Not the work of those talented Aussie expats Scott and Damien, is it?
Would have been better if it was real coke.
If this is Coke’s idea of Utopia I’d rather a shitty club in the backwaters of Surry Hills full of pale faced units any day of the week.
Do better bloggers. Then stick it on the blog.
I’ld rather watch this than a bank ad but why the lame dancers? The product growing from the ground was not needed.
