The City of Perth has teamed up with Wildlings to launch its 2023 Christmas campaign ‘Christmas Lives Here’, which celebrates the joy of the festive season in the City of Light.

At its heart, it’s a story of a City that lights up over Christmas to provide a beacon of festive joy for all to enjoy. The City at Christmas is where families and friends come together to enjoy the spectacle of streets filled with dazzling decorations, sparkling lights and hours of festive events.

It’s a place where new and old memories of the season collide and ignite our inner child. A place where we can celebrate the magic of this Christmas wonderland with those special to us.

The story is told through the eyes of a young girl, who is overjoyed to see the distractions of the year melt away as her family reconnects under the spectacular lights of the City.

Says Basil Zempilas, lord mayor, City of Perth: “No Christmas in Perth is complete without a visit to the City to experience all of the favourite Christmas delights, plus some joy-filled new additions, including new installations in the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail.

“The Christmas Lights Trail is always a highlight for families and this year will be no exception with 17 new and amazing installs to discover across Central Perth and Northbridge. Families in particular should look out for the new route titled The Merry Mile that has been specifically designed for little legs.”

“The City is also playing host to a variety of free, family festive events including the iconic Alinta Energy Christmas Pageant on Saturday 2 December and the Christmas Nativity show on 16 – 17 December in Forrest Place, among many other events and activities.

“Christmas lives in the City of Light and I look forward to joining the crowds as we all come together to bask in wonders of season and all the magic it brings.”

Says Neil Martin, head of art at Wildlings: “The campaign encapsulates how the City of Perth brings us together to celebrate the joy the festive season.

“The world of light we live for most of the year is our digital bubble of phones, laptops, and devices. But with Christmas fast approaching, we have an opportunity to switch off, come together as a family and enjoy a shared experience in the City of Light.”

The campaign is live running across FTA, BVOD, cinema, social, outdoor and digital.

With 17 new installations this year, visitors are encouraged to explore the Rio Tinto Christmas Lights Trail and look out for the 8-metre-tall ship in Elizabeth Quay, board the Vintage Christmas Train in Central Park, take a Quokka Selfie in front of Myer in Forrest Chase, or relax with Summer Santa in Murray St Mall.
