Chris Freel set to depart oOh!media for chief revenue officer role at MiQ

MiQ Australia and New Zealand has today announced the appointment of respected media executive Chris Freel to the newly created role of Chief Revenue Officer, following strong growth at the programmatic media company.
Freel is well known in the Australian media industry, with more than 20 years of proven commercial media experience, and joins MiQ from oOh!media where he was Group Sales Director. He has also held senior sales leadership roles at Fairfax Media and Pandora, before becoming CEO of industry charity UnLtd, the industry charity that helps grassroots charities working with children and young people at risk, a position he held for over six years.
Freel also founded the successful Big Clash annual media industry charity cricket event that has raised more than $1.5 million for youth disadvantage causes in collaboration with UnLtd and more than $30,000 for Breast Cancer Australia over the past 11 years.
Reporting to Fiona Roberts, Managing Director, MiQ Australia and New Zealand, Freel will be responsible for driving revenue growth and maximising profitability across all revenue generating functions of the business, as well as taking ownership of MiQ’s trade marketing efforts in ANZ.
MiQ APAC CEO, Jason Scott, says: “We have ambitious growth goals for ANZ in 2025 and beyond, with a number of exciting product releases slated. Chris’ strong background in media sales and business growth, coupled with his brilliant leadership style and ability to bring people together for a common cause made him an obvious choice for the first role of its kind for MiQ in the region.”
Adds Roberts: “Having previously worked with Chris at both Fairfax and Pandora, I know the impact he has on the people around him, and I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather partner with on growing the ANZ business for the future. We have incredible talent at MiQ and bringing Chris on board supports the development of that talent, along with the attraction of high performers in the industry as we continue that growth trajectory.”
Says Freel: “This newly created role at MiQ was too good an opportunity to pass up. Having worked with Fi and knowing Jason throughout the years, I am joining a formidable team with some exciting growth plans and new products in the wings and with access to a global team of programmatic trading, data science, tech and creative experts. I can’t wait to get started and help MiQ achieve its growth goals.”
Freel’s appointment is effective from June.
