Cancer Council Australia appoints Amazing Change to accelerate digital fundraising

Cancer Council – Australia’s leading cancer charity, working across every area of cancer, from research and prevention to support and advocacy – has partnered with social enterprise Amazing Change to raise donations through innovative new digital solutions.

Launched on 01 March 2022, the partnership is hosting a giveaway of 25 prizes including two Mercedes-Benz and 23 gift cards to the value of $1,000 AUD each. Entrants can qualify for prizes by donating to Cancer Council on the Amazing Change digital platform.

During the pandemic, most charity organisations globally faced an average decline of 87% in face-to-face donations. That’s a staggering $344 billion AUD lost worldwide in 2020 according to Forbes. This left not for profits in dire need of more effective ways to reach their donors, 24/7 all year round.

Donations made to Cancer Council support its vision for a cancer-free future. Every day, Cancer Council supports people affected by cancer when they need it most, speaks out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empowers people to reduce their cancer risk, and finds new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

Founded by Stephen Duggan and Deryll Naidoo, Amazing Change is on a mission to become the largest digital fundraising business in the world. Amazing Change is looking to solve the charity industry’s biggest problem in declining face-to-face donations by building a pandemic-proof range of digital fundraising solutions. By taking a “two-way” approach to making donations, Amazing Change makes it faster and easier for people to support charities whilst rewarding them with the chance to win life-changing prizes. Through its market-leading Giveaways 4 Cause and upcoming digital Roundups 4 Cause App, Amazing Change has set a goal to raise $30 million to support Australian charities by 2026.

Amazing Change does this via its integrated approach to working with charities, bridging the gap between causes and their supporters. The social enterprise champions transparency by connecting donors to real-world outcomes through its Goodness Impact initiative.

Headed up by Tanya Dontas, the Goodness Impact for Cancer Council will focus on communicating how donated dollars will translate to tangible prevention, support and research outcomes for patients and their families.

Says Todd Harper, CEO of Cancer Council Victoria: “Cancer Council has partnered with Amazing Change to help grow our digital donations strategy further. We’re looking forward to working with Amazing Change™ to fundraise in innovative ways so we can invest further in research, prevention and support, and work toward a cancer-free future for all.”

Says Duggan: “We are excited to partner with Cancer Council Australia, having seen the invaluable work they’ve done for cancer throughout their near-60 years of operation. We can now leverage our own 20 years of digital growth experience towards doing good alongside them. In addition to raising donations, our Goodness Impact™ goals with Cancer Council will help us to better connect donors with effective outcomes.”
