Cameron Hoelter set to depart The Palace Sydney
CB Exclusive: The Campaign Palace Sydney creative director, Cameron Hoelter has decided to leave the agency. At the time of posting his replacement had not yet been confirmed.
Hoelter joined the Palace in February 2009 after a highly awarded stint with Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne.
Hoelter, who leaves in December, says: “It’s been a fantastic experience being at one of Australia’s iconic agenices. And it’s been a real privilege working with Paul Fishlock. I wish Paul, Mark and the Palace team every success in the future.”
Over the past two years he’s led a creative resurgence at The Palace, with work for clients such as Bonds, Lumix, Panasonic and Care Careers being recognised at top international award shows including Cannes, D&AD and The One Show. The Palace was also one of the top performers at the Effies this year with five awards for clients Bonds, The Cancer Institute and The Heart Foundation and recently won a Caxton for Bonds.
Palace executive chairman Mark Mackay said he was disappointed to see Hoelter leave, but Hoelter wants to take a break from the business and he respects that.
“Cam has done a brilliant job in refocusing the Palace’s creative offering and attracting new talent,” says Mackay. “But we still have strong and experienced creative leadership in the agency and a very solid department. Expect the good work to keep on coming.”

Another big loss for the Palace.
Reckon he did a great job there.
Agree it’s a great loss to the Palace.
I have worked with Cam and there are few people I know who are as smart, reliable and good to work with.
Good luck mate
Farewell Cameron and good luck. You are a very trustworty CD not to mention a likeable guy.
This is a big loss for The Campaign Palace, which more than anything needs a bit of stability. New management every 15 minutes does not inspire any confidence.
All the best mate, it was great working with ya – short but oh so sweet.
I’m lookin at you right now and I already miss you. By the way it’s your round.
good luck Cam – you’ve done an amazing job. Now the challenge is for WPP to try and stabilize the Palace leadership team – Jacques leaving Cam leaving – too many good people heading out the door
well done my trusted partner – you can be truly proud of what you’ve achieved at The Palace – you are an amazing CD and will do very well wherever you go – best of luck JB
stop the Palace bleeding
All the best bro. It’s been awesome and well worth the move from the Tasman. I will drink at ur leaving do.
I let you win at football because your were the boss.
Awesome effort over the last 2 years, against the odds. Good luck in the future Cam.
Quelle surprise!
What the???
I hope he was wearing his comfy undies.
Maybe one day WPP will realise their most valuable asset is its employees. But I doubt it.
Just wish the Palace would get on with it and die already. These protracted death throes are getting very boring.
@10:40
the palace isn’t dead. it’s just very very tired.
It’s resting.
Its amazing that nobody seems to look beyond the PR – why is there such a revolving door of senior management at this agency? Fact is that they get sold The Palace with all its values and then get introduced to WPP and all its values – for as long as there is no alignment, there will never be growth and happiness at this shop in spite of the best efforts of talented individuals – sad really.
Which begs the question, 4:18, who in the trade journalism caper is going to have the balls to tell the real backstory. I’m sure it’d be fascinating – certainly a lot more interesting than the standard PR spin we get time and time again – and not just in this industry, but in every facet of our lives.
For a highly amusing, well-written diatribe on this subject, may I direct bloggers to Tony Martin’s The Scrivener’s Fancy.com website, and the article “Statement Prepared Earlier”. It’s a pisser.
Total pisser of an agency, political down to its socks. Why would any client stick with them? They have absolutely nothing to offer.
How sad. It used to be an exciting, inspiring place, if a bit smelly after they put Dynamic Lifter on the courtyard potplants.
Hilarious that all these comments are by anonymous
