Burger King France and KFC France sign historic collaboration with launch the ‘BFF burger’
Burger King France and KFC France have launched a historic collaboration, a world-exclusive, with the joint creation of an all-new burger available only in France: the BFF burger (Best Friends Forever). With a flame-grilled meat version available exclusively at Burger King and a crispy chicken version exclusively at KFC.
Until December 16, the two brands have decided to set aside their rivalry to jointly launch the ‘BFF burger’ in all their restaurants across France (555 for BK, 379 for KFC). This original and exclusive burger features a shared recipe but one major difference: it comes with flame-grilled meat exclusively at Burger King France and crispy chicken exclusively at KFC France.
To announce this unexpected collaboration, the brands went all out.
First, with a surprising teaser campaign in their restaurants. Over the past three days, customers at both chains noticed strange anomalies in their favorite spots: KFC buckets at BK, BK cups at KFC, KFC placemats at BK, BK burger wrappers at KFC, and more.
The “mind-bending” teaser continued on TV last Sunday with enigmatic 6-second ads showing Burger King and KFC crew members dancing together with no explanation—enough to spark curiosity and drive everyone a little crazy.
Today, the two brands are finally lifting the veil on this operation by doing what no one thought they would: becoming the best of friends, at least for the duration of the campaign.
This unlikely friendship between the two brands is showcased nationwide through OOH and DOOH advertising, on their social media platforms, and in a hilarious TV ad featuring War’s classic track “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” where employees are seen singing arm-in-arm, united in harmony.
The campaign was imagined and orchestrated by Buzzman, in collaboration with Havas Paris for social media, and media placement handled by Wavemaker and Havas Media.
