CB hears David Brownlow has resigned from Singleton Ogilvy & Mather, Sydney to join McCann-Erickson Sydney as associate creative director to once again work under former SO&M lads Mike Thomas, now ECD of McCann and CEO Chris Mort. Although titles don’t seem to mean much at McCanns these days: with a creative department which has shrunk from 17 people to four in just a few years it looks like every role is hands-on.

Like most, I couldn’t say whether he is a wanker or naot as I’ve never heard of him. The fact that most of you have says to me you mostly have worked in crap agencies or should get out more.
He did the Naked running guys for Guinness. The dog jumping for the seagull who stole the chips to end up through through the sun roof for AAMI. The genome spot for Hyundai where the cells form and transform into the ‘Highly Evolved Sonata?. Lots of LG, American Express,Qantas, Telstra, Coke – all for Singo’s.

“All for Singo’s” – strange how such a simply and innocent phrase tacked carelessly onto the end of CV man (what a wanky handle) can sound like such an indictment.

He’s going to be Associate CD of an agency and we no nowt about him other than he’s bald, worked at Singo’s since he was a nipper, and has ruffled a lot of peoples feathers.Has he won anything? more interesting than where Browneye is going is where M&C’s Dunne and Larcombe are heading off to. Word is Singo parked a ute load of cash to get them in to cover Browneye’s chicken work.

Guess that was a message from either a current or former Singo’s employee.
I normally make a point of ignoring crap like this because it is a depressing reminder of the poisonous and pathetic little lives led by a vocal minority in our industry. But sometimes you have to make an exception.Dave Brownlow is one of the loveliest blokes you will ever meet. He’s also got a lovely wife and two lovely kids. And for what it’s worth, he is also a very talented person who has written some very, very good ads. His greatest crime is that he hasn’t made it onto the radar of the gutlessly anonymous lynch mob that populates this little website.
