BINGO Industries reveals the explosive dangers of disposing batteries in the bin in new ‘Know before you throw’ campaign via Bounce Creative
CB Exclusive – Although it may seem like an insignificant act, dumping products with lithium batteries in the bin is a burning problem currently being ignored across the country; with an estimated 10,000 battery-related fires raging each year across waste and recycling streams in Australia.
This rise in truck and bin fires has seen BINGO Industries on the front line, leading to an engagement with Sydney creative agency Bounce to help raise awareness of the issue.
Says Joel Chapman, founder and executive creative director at Bounce: “With household items like vapes, drills and even mobile phones contributing to this critical problem, we knew our campaign needed to be simple and powerful to drive widespread appeal. So we asked: If you could see the hidden dangers, would you think twice about what you place inside your bin? Developing the ‘Know before you throw’ platform helped us craft striking and thought provoking visuals to elevate the campaign. I’m super proud of what the team has delivered, as we continue to spread this important message.”

These battery-related fires not only put waste management workers in harm’s way, but also impact the environment and even the general public too. In fact, one of the first BINGO Industries trucks that was due to be wrapped in campaign artwork, caught fire in a public street just days before launch—further solidifying the importance and urgency of the message.

Says Deborah Dolan, head of customer experience, BINGO Industries: “The alarming rise in battery fires within waste management highlights the urgent need for increased public awareness and education on proper battery disposal. We are excited to measure the success of our campaign, which is strongly supported by industry and regulatory partners. Together, we are committed to educating the public about the dangers of improper battery disposal.”

Find the campaign live on all social and digital channels, including street posters, stickers and truck wraps across Sydney and Melbourne.
