Bestads Rankings: Which are the Top Australian ad agencies and clients over the last 15 years?
Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne is Australia’s most creative agency over the last fifteen years, if the annual Bestads Rankings are any guide.
Nine times Campaign Brief Agency of the Year, Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne leads the agency pack on the Bestads All-Time chart with 145 points, followed by DDB Sydney on 84 points, BMF Sydney on 81 points and Y&R Melbourne on 70 points. Leo Burnett Sydney ranks #5 on 63 points, followed by Grey Melbourne and The Monkeys Sydney in equal 6th spot on 61 points. Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney is ranked #8 with 59 points, followed by J Walter Thompson Sydney in the #9 spot with 56 points and M&C Saatchi Sydney at #10 with 45 points.
Foster’s Group leads the All-Time Client Rankings chart with 60 points, followed by Transport Accident Commission in second spot on 44 points, Meat & Livestock Australia in third on 38 points, Lion in fourth spot on 36 points and Volkswagen in fifth spot on 35 points.

McCann boasts on their web site, that they are the creators of “the most awarded campaign in the history of Cannes” yet they are not in your top 10. Statistics are indeed, puzzling.
@something doesn’t add up: McCann Melbourne’s Dumb Ways to Die a few years ago was indeed “the most awarded campaign in the history of Cannes”, but the agency only got 2 points on Bestads for that campaign. They’ve not done much else so that’s why they’re not ranked highly.
Maybe that’s because McCaan are shit?

Clems Melbourne have fallen off a cliff. Pretty good spinning I must say with the whole “over 15 years” thing, but you are only as good as your last game, and in that game, they finished well behind the rest of the pack. It will be interesting to see if they can get back to their best.
