Bestads Best of the Week: 7-Eleven’s ‘Tongue-toos’ via Mischief @ No Fixed Address, New York

Each week Bestads showcases standout global advertising work as reviewed by an esteemed international creative director or team. This week’s Best TV ad is Slurpee’s ‘Tongue-Toos’ created by Mischief @ No Fixed Address, New York.

The ad was selected by this week’s guest judge Elena Knox, an Executive Creative Director based in New York.

“This work has been making the rounds and for good reason. 7-Eleven’s Tongue-toos takes it this week,” says Knox.

“It’s a great example of how you can be attention grabbing without being outlandish, loud or obnoxious. I love it for all the opposite reasons: it’s subtle, the editing is patient, and the whole thing relies on sharp yet relatable dialogue between characters that we’re not used to seeing.

“And most importantly, I’m left with the clear and very important message: it’s slurpee day at 7-Eleven – run don’t walk.”

7-Eleven celebrated its 98th birthday in bold, colourful style this Slurpee season. On Thursday, July 11, customers across the U.S. scored a free small Slurpee at participating 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Stripes locations. This year’s celebration introduced a playful twist: Tongue-toos – the first-ever temporary tongue tattoos activated by Slurpee. Inspired by the colourful stains Slurpee fans wear with pride, these tongue tattoos feature the brand’s signature ‘S’ in four vibrant shades: blue, green, red and purple.
