Award-winning duo launches Palomina – A production partnership with a difference
Award-winning production team Kate Merrin and Rachel Gilkison are set to take on Australia’s production market, launching Palomina, a new production partner with client empathy at the core of its business offering.
Jointly owned and led by the talented duo, Palomina brings to market an end-to-end production service partnering with brands to execute campaigns across TV, digital, paid social and radio.
The idea to launch Palomina developed when Gilkison and Merrin identified a market gap for an experienced production team to get together and take a direct-to-client approach to produce world-class campaigns and content.
Gilkison and Merrin said they are excited about the agile approach they are taking and how their focus on client empathy combined with 35 years of experience in film, TV and commercial production, uniquely positions Palomina to manage a client’s creative output.
Says Gilkison: “In today’s fast-evolving media landscape, clients are producing an increasing amount of content and the time is right to disrupt old habits and evolve the production process. Palomina manages complex, high-end production, so for many clients who are opting to bring creative in-house, working with Palomina allows them to also manage production in-house.
“At Palomina we provide clients with a genuine end-to-end production offering, cost effectively delivering high quality assets, while maintaining creative integrity.”
Says Merrin: “Launching Palomina has been a fun and exhilarating learning curve. We never take our client budgets and objectives for granted – we listen and keep asking the right questions until we truly understand what our clients are looking for, then we get down to producing great work.
“Being a small team means our client’s content is centrally managed, ensuring greater transparency and constant control of the production process, project costs and most importantly quality standards. Clients want full transparency, great work, better creative services, flexibility and an innovative creative way of working. That’s Palomina in action.”
Launching with foundation client, Sportsbet, Palomina has recently worked alongside Sportsbet’s in-house creative team to produce and take the brand’s successful Elite Average Games and Bet with Mates campaigns to market.
Says Jason Thatcher, head of brand and advertising, Sportsbet: “We’ve been working with Kate and Rachel to bring our above the line campaigns to life for several years now and the level of care and professionalism they bring to the table is unequalled. They continually find excellent talent to do the job and go above and beyond to bring our campaigns to market on budget and on time.”
Says Gilkison: “It is important to understand that our model offers flexibility to work with the best directors, crew, resources and suppliers for each production. We don’t have a set roster, we just find the right people for the job, so working with a production partner such as Palomina is not creatively limiting – it’s creatively liberating.”
Says Merrin: “It’s all about being totally transparent from the get-go and motivating our clients and production to work totally in sync.”
Adds Gilkison and Merrin: “Palomina is a great addition to the market and we look forward to being the production backbone for our clients.”

The model already exists across an increasing number of clients. Nothing really new. Odd though that you would PR this on a magazine page that is mostly read by production houses and agencies, both of whom you are now competing with…
Good luck with your endeavours. There is an appetite out there.
Good luck but please don’t claim it’s new.
People like Anne Miles has been doing exactly this for some years.
Blah, blah, blah.
