Hey AWARD School, why only feature national winners as alumni when 99% of students wont get the golden ticket into the ad industry. You could look to include some alumni who didnt come in the top 10 who had to hustle really hard to land a job. food for thought.
Can’t tell you how many talented young creatives fall through the cracks at this place because of some “Top 10” creative ponzi scheme. Hard work trumps talent any day!
Agreed!
Does seem like you’re only sharing insights for one way of getting a job in ad land.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. We run a series of information sessions for AWARD School (including another taking place next Wed 9 Feb) which include an array of student graduates. This ensures we are including different perspectives from those who have completed the course. It’s also important to note that some of the most successful graduates hired by key advertising and creative agencies in Australia didn’t place in the leading group of students during their time at AWARD School. Most agency Executive Creative Directors will also consider any AWARD School graduate who reaches out to them. But yes, we appreciate the feedback and will look to ensure we have a range of different speakers at each session.
Jack B, spot on. I’ve judged AWARD school and its not easy to find 10 good books from the 120 or so students, so that could be a reason most don’t get jobs. But the top book usually does.
Now for my plug, if you’re from the Western Suburbs of Sydney and you’re the top student at Western Sydney Ad School we guarantee a 3 month internship at a Sydney Agency.
Almost every agency is helping us and we are very grateful for that.
It’s a great line up of alumni!
Many AWARD School graduates who didn’t place in the top ten have found have their way into the industry. Western Sydney Ad School sounds like a great idea too. Shame their strategy to promote it appears to be based on jumping on every post about AWARD School.
