Avalon Film Festival to feature world premiere of ‘The Restraint’ by director David Denneen
The highly anticipated Avalon Film Festival is set to kick off with a bang, hosting the world premiere of ‘The Restraint’, a reimagined thriller by Oscar-winning director David Denneen.
Denneen, celebrated for his meticulous attention to detail and visionary storytelling, has revisited his 2008 film, which stars Travis Fimmel (Vikings), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), and Stephen Moyer (True Blood). The revamped version of The Restraint captures the Deneen’s original vision, delivering a bold, exhilarating experience.
This updated take features new scenes, an electrifying score, an enhanced sound mix, and a narrative refined with greater clarity, pace, and energy. The film has been regraded in black and white, giving it a sleek modern aesthetic while invoking the suspenseful nostalgia of Hitchcock’s greatest works.
When criminals Ron and Dale seek refuge after a violent crime, they stumble upon a seemingly abandoned mansion inhabited by Andrew, a wealthy agoraphobic. What begins as a hostage situation quickly unravels into a suspenseful tale where the lines between victim and perpetrator blur. As secrets emerge, the audience is left questioning everything they thought they knew.
Don’t miss this world premiere of a thrilling cinematic masterpiece by one of Australia’s most accomplished directors.
The Restraint will open the festival on Friday, November 29th, at the United Avalon Cinema.
