Australia’s largest family put the PlayStation 4 to the test in new content film via One Green Bean
Sony Interactive Entertainment has launched a new web film to promote the PlayStation 4. The concept, created by One Green Bean, explores how the nation’s largest family, which includes 16 kids, The Bonells, keep their diverse household happily entertained over the holiday season. The film delves into lives of the Bonells, and shows a glimpse into how a family of 18 operates.
The content showcases how PlayStation 4 (PS4) is the one device that the family all love and with the breadth of entertainment services such as Netflix, STAN, Foxtel Play, and ABC iView, plus Spotify on PlayStation Music, and unrivalled gaming experiences it brings the family together.
The content is set to drive earned media coverage and seeded across PlayStation Australia’s owned online and social channels.
Alongside the content, PlayStation Australia will release new research on the appetite of streaming home entertainment by Australian family households.
Key stats include:
· Almost three quarters (74 per cent) of Aussie parents get their entertainment fix through streamed movie and TV content
· Over half of Australian families (57 per cent) admit they stream more content now than they did a year ago, with families streaming an average of 2 hours of entertainment per day
· Over half of Aussie parents in streaming households (52 per cent) prefer to stay home and watch their favourite shows rather than head out for an evening of entertainment or catch up with friends.
· Almost one in five (17 per cent) Australian families streaming entertainment use their PlayStation as their device of choice to watch catch up and streaming video on demand (SVOD) services
· It’s Australian Dads who rule the roost when it comes to controlling the lounge room TV remote
Says Patrick Lagana, director of marketing, Sony Interactive Entertainment Australia: “The campaign has been developed to show how PlayStation 4 can keep any household endlessly entertained – no matter how big. With streaming services like ABC iView, Netflix, Stan, or Foxtel Play, plus Spotify on PlayStation Music and all the great games, PlayStation 4 hosts the best entertainment for absolutely everybody in the family to enjoy, especially over the holiday period.
“We know from our current users and our latest research that PS4 owners are streaming more home entertainment than ever before. Navigating your favourite entertainment services from the comfort of your living room has become even intuitive with the recent launch of the Universal Media Remote for PS4.”

Remember when Playstation ads were the best in the world?
I prefer the eBay one:

Not only is this content sad, the fact that an agency want to promote it is even sadder for the industry. And yes, I remember when Playstation ad were the best in the world.
I think this says a lot about Australian advertising when you compare the overseas Playstation ads with this…. thing
This has to be one of the most fun and exciting things you can sell yet it is seen here as home shopping network material.
Maybe it just needs more whistling on the soundtrack to change my negative attitude.
Some kind of 2-4-1 Havas network deal? The same family that was used for eBay?
Why is no one talking about the fact there is a family of 18 people? I barely have 18 people I know on a first name basis. Not because I’m antisocial, more because I’m a last name kinda person.
Call me old fashioned, but I preferred it when families couldn’t field their own football teams. Or maybe that’s new fashioned…Was there a point when Collingwood fielded an entire team of Cloaks?
OGB needs to stick to PR activations, this is absolutely woeful.
