Australia’s new directors Lorin Askill, Chris Hill, Lachlan Dickie, Sandy Widyanata and Ariel Martin celebrate their wins at Young Directors Award show in Cannes on Thursday June 21

YDA Logo.jpgThe very best in international new directing talent was celebrated at the Young Directors Award show to a full-house at Espace Miramar in Cannes on Thursday June 21st with five Australian directors winning 1st and 2nd prizes.

In the category of Webfilm Non Europe Collider’s Lorin Askill won 1st prize for DVV Insurance ‘Epic Fail’ and Exit Film directors, Chris Hill & Lachlan Dickie won 2nd prize in the same category for Ford Falcon Ecoboost ‘Cane Toad Road’.

In the category of Test Commercial Non Europe freelance director Sandy Widyanata won 2nd prize for Sony Playstation 3 ‘War Robot’.

Filmgraphics Entertainment director Ariel Martin won 2nd prize in the category of Short Film Non Europe for ‘The Future Shooter’.

YDA and CFP-E president Francois Chilot announced the winners from countries across Europe, Australia, Japan, USA and South America.

Public voting was introduced for the first time this year. The film from the shortlist on the YDA Youtube Channel with the most views over the next two weeks will win a Canon camera.
