Aussie furniture brand Eva takes a cheeky swipe at Westpac in timely mobile billboard campaign

Australian furniture brand Eva has taken a well-timed jab at Westpac, rolling out a mobile digital billboard outside the bank’s Barangaroo HQ following its recent court loss over an employee’s right to work from home.

The billboard reads: “Westpac’s HR team hates how comfortable our furniture is.”

The stunt, conceived and executed entirely by Eva’s internal team, came together in record time.

Eva Co-Founder Amanda Niu came up with the idea late on a Friday afternoon, briefing the marketing and creative team first thing Monday morning. By 9:13am, the team had booked the billboard, finalised the copy and artwork by 11am, and had it parked outside Westpac’s Barangaroo offices by 12:30pm. It then spent the rest of the day circling the bank’s CBD branches.

Says Niu: “The idea came together super quickly from a simple thought – our furniture is so comfy, it’s actually hard to leave home for the office. Once that line landed, everyone jumped in. We put our Monday tasks aside, knowing we wanted to catch people out and about on their lunch break. We threw around a few ideas and before we knew it, it was happening.
“That kind of quick and playful thinking is very us. At Eva, we put humans at the centre of everything we do. Designing furniture that fits real life, not the other way around. It’s all part of being thoughtful everyday; creating pieces that are made for how people actually live and holding ourselves to that standard. Life’s constantly changing, and it’s our job to keep up – thoughtfully, playfully, and with people always in mind.”
