Kiwi copywriter ‘Indiana June’ trades bull clip for bull whip in global cycling + online adventure

The public decides. She has created a new style of travel blog that invites people to vote on key decisions in her real-life adventure story.

Tansey, aka Indiana June, has worked at Publicis Mojo in Brisbane, Singleton Ogilvy & Mather in Sydney, followed by a year at CDP in London and finally three years at Irish International BBDO in Dublin.

Shewill pedal away from Dublin on Saturday August 6, kicking off a bike tour like no other. The pioneering adventurer will begin her journey from The Barge Inn, Dublin, and online followers will decide her first destination.

“I will be on the road for hopefully a year, publishing stories, photos, drawings and videos along the way from anywhere in the world. But one of my biggest aims is invite anyone with a bicycle or with Internet access to join me on the adventure,” says Diana aka Indiana.

 

The explosion of social media has redefined the way we explore the world and this project is built on an unpredictable mix of discovery and sharing. Indiana June is taking the social media world to a whole new level, interacting with what is hoped to become thousands of supporters who will ultimately decide the destiny of this pick-a-path adventurer.

 

Wondering about the name? While on a recent trip to New Zealand, a fat-fingered customs official mistyped her name as ‘Indiana June’ into his computer, giving Diana the inspiration for her on-the-road character.

 

When talking about how she came up with the concept, Di said, “I literally wrote down a list of all the things I love in life and then came up with a way to combine them all at once. I love spontaneous travel, I love meeting new people, I love storytelling, sketching and painting and of course I love cycling from place to place at my own pace.”
