Aussie advertising community urges Campaign Brief to ‘Drop The Shadow’ for a good cause

At its best the advertising industry can be a force for good. An apparatus of change with the power to shape the world for the better.
Today, we’re asking you to use that power.
By helping remove the drop shadow behind the Campaign Brief logo.
For years, it has lurked underneath the ornate script of our favourite masthead.
But enough is enough.
We’ve set up a GoFundMe account to collect funds that will be donated to the Fred Hollows Foundation.
But only once the drop shadow is gone.
Is holding a charity ransom to get a logo changed ethical? Probably not.
But removing one eyesore, to restore sight to many, seems like a pretty fair trade off.
Watch the video above, donate via GoFundMe and help us Drop The Shadow.

More drop shadows. Put drop shadows behind everything. Buttons? Drop shadow. Body copy? Drop shadow.
I want to look at websites and feel like I’m watching Avatar 2: The Way of Water at IMAX in 3D
Is that @peps_pipes doing the VO?
Nice one Connor
Kind of fun.
We’re talking about one of the most valuable mastheads in publishing. We shouldn’t rush into this.
Can I suggest, maybe get Interbrand in to model out the brand valuation and strategise the change management piece.
It’s a cool word mark actually.
Who designed it?
Onya BB. Been losing sleep over this for years.
With the industry
This is a truly inspiring initiative. The people have suffered for too long. I applaud whoever is behind this.

I totally agree with dropping the drop shadow. The drop shadow was only meant for when the logo was on an image in order to help the logo standout and not get lost with whatever was going on in the background. That muddy drop shadow at the top of this blog has been bugging me for ages. Great initiative/idea. Guess I better head to the GoFundMe page.
It was designed by me while working at Saatchi Sydney – circa 2004 – Lorenz.
It had to happen.
Campaign Brief gets off the sidelines with an award entry stunt for charity.
It’s great.
Well done all.
Everyone else…give.
Also has Pepper switched to vaping? He sounds suspiciously less husky.
If the shadow goes, I demand a gradient
Take this global.
Campaign Brief WA.
New Zealand,
Asia.
This could go big.
Will send you my name for the credits.
I read the headline and assumed it meant the shadows that anon commenters hide in. Dropping that would surely be a better incentive to donate to rather than one about CB’s logo
This initiative vaguely resembles a Brazilian print ad from 15 years ago
Can we be sure Connor Beaver isn’t an alias for Celeste Barber?
C.B. / C.B…
Where’s the social film with Inspired Unemployed to really give this thing some juice?
Honestly never noticed it.
good on you slats
…I thought the exact same.
Don’t worry, it will be replaced with a vignette.
