Audi launches new ‘The car you’ve always wanted’ retail campaign via BMF Australia
“The car you’ve always wanted. The excuse you’ve always needed.” That’s the tagline of Audi’s latest retail campaign created by BMF to promote the illustrious brand’s compelling offers.
In film, digital, social and out-of-home executions, ethereal lighting, dreamlike visuals, and a contemporary reworking of an iconic song, show car lovers that the Audi of their dreams is now within reach.
Directed by FINCH’s Toby Pike, the film features a re-composed version of ‘Dream A little Dream’ created by Rumble Studios.
Says Nikki Warburton, chief customer and marketing officer, Audi Australia: “We are delighted to be partnering with BMF to deliver compelling and effective retail work for Audi in Australia. Alongside our landmark ‘RS’ and ‘Q’ brand campaigns so far this year, we’re delighted to be having such engaging conversations with Australians across all formats in 2020.”
Says Alex Derwin, chief creative officer, BMF: ”We couldn’t be happier to be working with such a progressive and innovative automotive brand. Retail is the pointy end of any industry, but with a premium car brand like Audi there’s a fine balance to strike. The team did a great job to land exactly the right tone here. It’s direct, simple, but also really good to look at.”
Says Michael Gie, Rumble Studios: “We loved bringing a contemporary edge to such an iconic song. The nostalgia in the vocals combined beautifully with the modern dreamy electro and there is a real synergy between the track and visuals.”
The national campaign is currently in market and will be live until the end of September.

There’s quite a lot happening with the sound in this one? Off-beat Heartbeat vs VO vs Lyrics.
Nicely shot though.
A nice way to make Audi generic. Do a generic ad.
BMF x car ad = need to watch.
Eyeballs x said ad = not BMF enough
It’s never going to have a massive idea being purely a retail offer spot, and yes you’re getting old if you think that’s a heartbeat (it’s the percussion in the music track).
The beauty of this spot and the line is that it does the offer in a way that doesn’t devalue the brand, which is especially key for luxury categories.
Getting old? Dream a little Dream has probably been used more times than the awards annuals your ideas come from. Glitch has been around for years, player 🙂
Agencies may change but a crap client won’t — they’re now just force a new agency to do idea-less dross.
Audi.
The client you always dreamed of.
The micromanagement you didn’t need.
This commercial ticks all the boxes for me, nicely directed, cut and musically composed.
