ARIA winning musician, composer + musical director Cameron Bruce joins Sonar Music
Sonar Music has announced the signing of Cameron Bruce, a multi-talented ARIA award-winning musician, composer, and musical director.
His extensive portfolio spans across film, television, and music production. His ability to craft memorable and melodic hits for both the screen and the stage has earned him a well-deserved reputation as one of Australia’s most accomplished producers and songwriters.
Bruce’s expertise covers not only songwriting and composition, but he also has a particular and unique specialty in vocalist direction, on-set music supervision, and large-scale live performances, as seen on recent projects for Tooheys, the award-winning Boys Don’t Cry, Carlton, P&O, Centrum, and Suncorp.
As a long-standing band member and songwriter for Paul Kelly, Bruce has helped shape many of the iconic records that we all know and love. Beyond his work with Paul Kelly, Bruce’s impressive discography features collaborations with celebrated artists including Megan Washington, Missy Higgins, Vika & Linda, Bernard Fanning, and Tim Rogers.
As a highly sought after musical director, Bruce is an expert at getting the best possible talent performance on screen. In this role he spent 18 months working as the musical director on Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, overseeing all talent rehearsals and on-set recordings. He also served as the musical director for 50 Years of Mushroom, working with Ed Sheeran, Amy Shark, and Yothu Yindi, among others and has worked across many TVC campaigns.
Says Sophie Haydon, EP of Sonar Music: “Cam is one of the most charming and engaging people to work with, his energy is absolutely infectious. He consistently brings out the best performances in talent and never ceases to amaze me with his clever and catchy arrangements. With an extensive career collaborating with some of Australia’s most renowned artists, his expertise is a huge value add to the Sonar team.”

Like Sonar just made a great, great partnership with Mr Bruce. A true asset.
Hi
Not sure this is the right route for my query but here goes:
I would like to know who is singing the “My Bonnie lies over the ocean” song which is used in the Spirit of Tasmania advert. I don’t have any good reason for wanting to know this, apart from the fact that it is playing on my mind and affecting my sleep patterns! Certainly a haunting voice.
I hope you can help me out.
Thanks
Emlyn
