All Black legend Dan Carter and Daikin, a hot combination in new campaign by The Works
Air conditioning specialist Daikin, announces a major new advertising campaign with All Black rugby legend Dan Carter, that’s set to add warmth to New Zealander’s homes throughout the country.
“Heat with intelligence” is the apt tagline for the new campaign via The Works Sydney, which features Dan Carter and showcases Daikin’s Intelligent Eye technology, a heat pump that senses when you leave a room and automatically changes to a more energy efficient setting.
The Works, an independent ad agency based in Sydney, is responsible forDaikin advertising across Australia and NZ and have created a cutthrough execution that uses Dan Carter in a very innovative way.
For Damian Pincus, creative partner-founder at The Works, “One of thechallenges with using someone as famous and well respected as Dan isthat consumers recall the communications is for Daikin and not an adfor Dan Carter, we believe we have cracked an idea that will really setDaikin apart from its competitors.”
Dave Smith, Daikin national sales and marketing manager for Australiaand New Zealand says, “We are thrilled to be working with Dan to conveythe benefits of Daikin heat pumps to New Zealanders. Winter is fastapproaching and we know that people will be looking for effective, economical and energy efficient heating solutions from Daikin.”
Dan Carter says he is delighted to be the face of Daikin. “I lovehaving a Daikin heat pump in my home. It means I don’t have to worryabout coming home to a cold house after training, because I know Daikinis taking care of it for me.”
Daikin’s “Heat with Intelligence” ad campaign went live in New Zealandon 10 April and will be launched across TV, print, radio, online andoutdoor.

it would have been funnier if he’d starting blowing.
Which, oddly enough is what the wife would have done if the husband was out, judging by the way she kept looking at him.
Not funny, and a peculiar choice to go for the crappy old Philadelphia Cream Cheese look rather than aiming at the people who generally buy the fucking things.
thats is just awful guys – sorry
The core idea is good. The execution, not so much. It gives the gag away in the first few seconds and it’s not like there is a reveal to see Dan Carter hanging on the wall so the constant cutting back to him doesn’t really work.
If the idea had been worked on a bit further, this could have been a good commercial. It just didn’t quite get there.
Is Dan Carter renowned for being intelligent?
Maybe he is in NZ, but c’mon, he’s a rugby player.
And he looks mongy.
Take a look at 16-17 seconds.
Well cut.
Eeewwww. This ad is so creepy and awkward.
I think it’s actually a bit of a laugh. At first I was thinking, ‘what the feck is it with heat pumps and sports stars?’ When I watched it, I thought it’s pretty funny. Coulda been better, yeah sure. Coulda done without his line to camera, but it’s nuts enough to work for me.
Who’s running the show?
This is without question, and believe me there’s some stiff competition for this accolade, the worst ad of the year so far.
B grade work from a C grade agency.
Absolutely, totally awful. Why is this nonsense being posted on here? What separates this from Stephen Flemming’s heatpump shite.. why isn’t that on here too? What is going on here
More ‘self’ directed work badly produced.
Gotta love the bitches in the advertising industry!
I feel better about my bad day all of a sudden.
i’m a kiwi, so don’t get me wrong, i have (had) massive respect for Carter. He needs to stay on the field and Australia needs to stop using sports stars to endorse clients that have farkn nothing to do with sports. Adidas, yes, air-farkn-conditioners, no. Stay on the field Carter. Oh and the other thing, when he has his piece to camera at the end, he sounds like a taranaki bus driver, hardly intelligent.
“Daikin, heat wuth intulligunce” WAH HA HA HA!
Again I ask – WHY is this on here?
Let’s get this straight…Dan Carter is “Hot” as in good looking, but he’s intelligent.
So, let’s stick him on a wall as analogy for the Daikin heat pump, then we can get a hot chic to come in to a room, at the the time she’s giving him the glad eye behind her fellas back.
Gold!
Undercut the competition, cut any production values and then promote your ineptitude with cavalier indifference.
Sadly, the Works formula continues to work.
Awful. truly awful. and I must say, as a woman – I really do not find him ‘hot’ in the SLIGHTEST. He’s a meat head.

I know some very intelligent bus drivers.
Dan Carter is as dumb as a bag of hammers…
nice work Daikin!
pffffffffffffffffft
you spend a lot of money on a sports start – obviously the concept was done by someone completely uncreative (or their entire plan was to be the same as fujitsu) – lost so so much credibility! – where or what did they base his intelligence on
