Alex Collares departs Ogilvy Sydney after three years for Associate CD role at VML New York

After more than three years at Ogilvy Sydney, Alex Collares has officially joined VML New York as Associate Creative Director, marking the next chapter in his globally spanning creative career.
Born in Brazil, Collares has carved out a global creative career, with stints in Brazil, Australia and now the U.S. Before heading Down Under, Collares cut his teeth at some of Brazil’s biggest creative agencies including McCann, Agência3 and Geometry Global. Prior to joining Ogilvy Sydney, he spent two years at DDB Australia as a Senior Art Director.
Throughout his 15+ year career, Collares has helped shape campaigns for some of the world’s most recognised brands, including Dove, KFC, Coca-Cola, Fox Sports, McDonald’s, Volkswagen, Westpac and Laser Clinics. His work has been awarded at major shows including Cannes Lions, One Show, Clio, LIA and Spikes Asia.
Now based in New York, Collares brings with him a passion for mentoring teams, building collaborative cultures, and pushing big ideas from insight to execution.
Toby Talbot, Ogilvy Chief Creative Officer ANZ told CB: “Alex was one of my first hires at Ogilvy. He has been a wonderful colleague/mentor/all-round inspiration to so many people at Ogilvy. His talent as an art director on Dove 10 Vs 10 was much lauded, but it’s Alex himself that we will miss the most. He’s a lovely guy. I’m happy for our cousins at VML New York but hope one day, as so many do, that he returns to the Ogilvy family.”
Adds Michelle Holland, Managing Director, Ogilvy Sydney: “We’re thrilled to see Alex embark on this new adventure with his family, and the entire Ogilvy Sydney team is behind him all the way. He’ll be greatly missed, but we know he’ll do amazing things!”
