AIRBAG director Eddy Bell wins big at at the 31st Flickerfest Awards with ‘Giants’ short film

AIRBAG director Eddy Bell has taken away the top prize for Best Australian Short Film at the 31st Flickerfest Awards.

Intermittently filmed on the same property over a period of 18 months, Giants plays out amongst the changing landscape of the worst drought in Australia’s history.

Composer Jackson Mico Milas from Sonar Music also won for Best Original Music, making Giants the only multiple award winning film.

This marks Eddy Bell’s second win for Best Australian Short Film at the festival, having previously won in 2015 for his film ‘Grey Bull’.

Speaking from Bangkok, where he is currently filming a TVC, Bell credited the hard work and dedication of the whole team, in particular producers Nonny Klaile, Steven Rees, and Luke Mulquiney: “It takes a lot to make short films. There is passion and love from every department and everyone puts so much into them. Winning Best Australian Short Film is a relief because it shows that the team’s crazy time spent making this film was worthwhile.”
