Ad Council awarded Outstanding Commercial Emmy for ‘Love Has No Labels’ via R/GA, NYC
The Ad Council in the US has won the Outstanding Commercial Emmy for its campaign ‘Love Has No Labels’ via agency R/GA, New York.
The campaign competed against work from Snickers, Gatorade, Honda and Google for the top prize.
The campaign, led by Aussie expat ECD Chris Northam and chief creative officer Nick Law (pictured), together with ECD Eric Jannon (pictured below with Northam), challenged Americans to open their eyes to its bias and prejudice and work to stop it in themselves, their families and their colleagues.
While the vast majority of Americans consider themselves unprejudiced, many unintentionally make snap judgments about people based on what they see – whether it’s race, age, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability.
This may be a significant reason many people in the U.S. report they feel discriminated against. Subconscious prejudice, called “implicit bias”, has profound implications for how people view and interact with others who are different. It can hinder a person’s ability to find a job, secure a loan, rent an apartment, or get a fair trial, perpetuating disparities in American society.
