AADC pays homage to 40 individuals at 40th annual AADC Awards held last night; Showpony takes out Gold Chair for SA Health campaign
The AADC, Australia’s longest running advertising and design club, celebrated 40 years in style with its annual awards at the nation’s oldest, intact theatre, the Old Queen’s Theatre in Playhouse Lane, Adelaide.
The gala night was an opportunity to pay homage to 40 individuals who played instrumental roles in the development of the AADC and Adelaide’s creative industry. From inaugural club president, Peter Jenner and past presidents and executive members such as Andrew Killey, Marsha Dearden, Jan Turbull, Marty Pepper and David Minear, to members and great creative contributors like Matthew Remphrey, Max Pepper and Tim Piper (pictured end of article in black and white).
Tributes also flowed for deceased members and industry greats including Chris Briscoe, Geoff Robertson, Milton Ingerson OAM (top left), Jim Berinson (top right), Street Remley (bottom left) and Neil Lawrence (bottom right).
The recipients of the 2017 President’s Award, were Justin Pounsett and Justin Astbury (below left) for their outstanding contribution to the local industry and the AADC. Both have continued to build upon Adelaide’s great audio legacy, working with local, national and international clients in the advertising, television, radio and feature film industries.
On presenting the award, Club President, Anna Bardsley-Jones said: “This year’s winners typify what this award is about. They are champions of the industry, the people in it and they inspire future generations through the world-class work they produce.”
Winners of the Gold Chair, awarded to the show’s most outstanding idea, went to Showpony for the SA Health’s ‘Hands Off Our Ambos‘ television commercial.
Winners of the Master’s Chair for the most outstanding craft entry, went to David Parkinson of Moonship in the category of cinematography for Penny’s Hill ‘Winter‘.
In addition to the Gold Chair, Showpony collected 12 awards for work including SA Health’s, ‘Waiting Isn’t An Emergency‘, the Balfour’s Bay web series and Balfour’s Stars of Summer radio.
KWP! collected a total of 7 awards for work including Motor Accident Commission’s ‘Life’s Fragile‘, Get Your Sh*t Together Outdoor and Coopers Brewery Australian Open promotion.
Digital marketing agency, The Distillery picked up 6 awards for work on clients including Baptist Care SA, Adelaide Metro and Alzheimer’s Australia.
Other winners on the night included Randy Larcombe with 3 awards, along with Fuller Design, Justin Pounsett and Justin Astbury with 2 awards each.
