A triple threat: How HSLR’s leading women are flipping the script on creative productions

Setting a new standard with senior expertise end-to-end. HSLR’s cross-disciplinary directors redefine what it means to lead, bringing strategy, creativity and collaboration to every brief.
The creative production studio’s hands-on approach starts at the top, with design, production and communications directors consulted from the get-go. Superseding the slow-moving waterfall method – from client service to creative to production – this process delivers holistic insights in real-time for more effective and efficient outcomes. From planning to producing to the final delivery, projects are in the safe-hands of in-house specialists.
Leading the helm is Production Director Genya Mik, Design Director Kristy Buchanan, and Communications Director Prasana Lee. Together, these highly experienced women shape the studio’s next chapter – one that influences culture and commercial growth, grounded in end-to-end expertise.
“Leadership starts with attitude. The women leading HSLR all share the common goal of building the best community for our clients and creatives, and it shows in our work. Their powerful combination of expertise and energy is truly impressive,” says David Vale, Founder, HSLR.

For the directors, this appointment signals a shift in the status quo.
Says Lee: “Attitudes around what it means to be an agency have evolved. The HSLR mindset responds with an excitement and willingness to bring our skills to the table, not just in leadership, but our niche.”
Production Director Genya Mik began her career on indie film sets, first as an actor, then producer and casting director. Cutting her teeth in commercial production for agencies like Mustard Creative and The Monkeys, Mik’s deep connection to performance and storytelling informs her instinctive direction and understanding. When things get big, messy, or beautifully ambitious, Mik leads productions with powerful, creative insight, and a drive to deliver.
Mik is joined by Design Director Kristy Buchanan. Previously at HERO (formerly B.B.E Creative), Buchanan’s 10+ years of experience span large-scale digital ecosystems to immersive brand campaigns and design systems for clients like Dulux, Medibank and Momentum Energy. Inclusive, dynamic, and purpose-driven, Buchanan has built and led high-performing design teams and played a key role in HSLR’s growth and transformation.
With over a decade of experience in brand storytelling, fashion PR, and high-impact production, Communications Director Prasana Lee has built a reputation for turning creative vision into clear, strategic campaigns that resonate. Ensuring every piece is anchored in story, not just style, Lee helps to redefine what leadership looks like: inclusive, intuitive, and built on genuine connection.
The lineup is part of HSLR’s continued evolution as a creative production house known for compelling campaign, commercial and creative content. Leveraging the experiences of their senior leadership team, HSLR aims to set a new standard for the creative production industries.
