savage.jpgThe good times roll on for Brisbane’s Alt.vfx as this week they announce the signing on of one of the industries most sought after and respected design directors Brendan Savage (left).

Savage’s design pedigree is second to none. Starting out at Garner McLennan Design in Sydney, he later he joined FSM as design director. After successfully building their design department, he moved to FuelVFX in 2008 to do the same. Under his design supervision Fuel became one of Australia’s most awarded design and visual effects companies in film and television.

He first joined Alt in late 2012 and after a short stint decided to make it more permanent relocating from Sydney in 2013.

Says Savage: “I have known Col for a long time, but we had never worked together. I knew they

were doing some good stuff up here, but didn’t realise to what extent and how passionate they

were. It’s pretty inspiring.”

Says Takeshi Takada, executive producer at Alt.vfx: “Brendan brings something new to Alt. It’s the next logical step in our growth and his skill set feeds nicely into our newly formed gaming and design departments. It’s great for us and great for Brisbane.”

Says Colin Renshaw, Alt.vfx co-founder and visual effects supervisor: “How often do you get one of Australia’s best and most accomplished designers and a good drinking buddy rolled into one package. I am stoked he has joined us. Collaborating with your friends makes for sweeter times.”

Savage has developed and executed design and branding solutions across, commercials,

feature film and channel branding. He has been a guest speaker at the Australian effects &

animation festival and in 2011 spoke at the Semi-Permanent design conferences in both Sydney

and Perth.
