Tim Arrowsmith.jpgIntegrated brand design agency Blue Marlin has appointed Aussie expat Tim Arrowsmith as creative director of its Singapore office.

This marks a return for Arrowsmith, having held the position of Creative Director Asia at the agency’s former Bangkok studio 5 years previously. During his last tenure at Blue Marlin, Arrowsmith built a multi-cultural team of talented local and international designers and led the creative direction on projects for major clients such as Tesco Lotus, GSK, Nestlé, Mead Johnson, S&P, Berli Jucker, Asia Pacific Breweries, PZ Cussons and Standard Chartered Bank.

Arrowsmith brings a wealth of creative and strategic acumen with expertise in packaging design, corporate rebranding and repositioning, branded environments and naming. Originally from Melbourne, Arrowsmith has 20 years of industry experience in the Asia Pacific region where he held a similar role at Interbrand Australia collaborating with their offices in Shanghai and Singapore. As a branding and design industry thought leader, Arrowsmith is a regular speaker at marketing conferences in the region and has developed several bespoke brand immersion and innovation workshops for clients and creatives.

Blue Marlin has had a presence in Asia for over 10 years and continued its growth there with the opening of their Singapore studio last year. As Creative Director, Arrowsmith will spearhead the studio’s creative offer as the business continues to expand. “It’s a really exciting time for us in Asia,” says Arrowsmith. “Our studio in Singapore is poised to become a major player in the region. It’s a very talented group of people working on innovative new projects so I couldn’t be happier about returning.”

Adds agency co-founder and CEO Andrew Eyles: “It’s brilliant to have Tim back on board. He’s a proven talent, with an understanding of the adventurism, entrepreneurial prowess and curiosity that drive Blue Marlin. Tim’s appointment highlights the organic growth we’re aiming for, a process that’s integral to the future success of the business.”

Arrowsmith joins Blue Marlin’s Singapore studio, which is overseen by managing director Kay

Twine, who joined Blue Marlin in 2011 with 26 years of marketing experience working for the likes of Sara Lee, Remington and Schwarzkopf.

This appointment by Blue Marlin follows the recent news of creative director Ian Catling’s ascent to managing director of the agency’s Sydney studio with Polly Williams stepping up to lead the creative team. Both Catling and Williams will work closely with Arrowsmith to continue Blue Marlin’s great work in the Southern Hemisphere.
