QLD.jpgGreenpeace has launched a stunning new animated video exposing how the unprecedented expansion of coal mining and infrastructure along the Queensland coast is threatening the Great Barrier Reef produced by UK-based animator Daniel Bird.

The animation tells the story of how nine proposed mega mines in Queensland’s Galilee Basin will be a disaster for the global climate and also lead to thousands more coal ships slicing through the Great Barrier Reef every year.

Says James Lorenz, Greenpeace communication manager: “Very few people know about the massive coal mine expansions in Queensland and the impact they will have on the Great Barrier Reef. Australians are outraged when they know about the scale and scope of the planned industrialisation of our most precious natural icon. We hope this short animation will play a role in stirring people to take action.”
