GPY&R Sydney promotes experienced senior copywriter Bart Pawlak to creative director role
GPY&R Sydney has strengthened its creative leadership by promoting experienced senior copywriter Bart Pawlak to creative director.
Pawlak has been an integral part of the Sydney agency’s creative resurgence, helping the agency towards multiple new business and creative wins, including D&AD, Clio, One Show and Cannes recognition in the past year.
Says Julian Watt, chief creative officer of Y&R Group: “We’re excited to see Bart step up like this. He’s a superb thinker, craftsman and really gets the business of creativity. Add to this, he radiates positive energy, a vital part of a great creative business.”
The GPYR Sydney office is going from strength to strength, winning 6 Effies at this year’s awards, including coveted Australia’s Effectiveness Agency of The Year award.

Congrats Bart. Top lad.

GPYR Syd have been ‘under-performing’ and/or ‘resurgent’ for several years now. Faced with the task, even Russell jumped ship. Bart’s a trooper for hanging in there and well deserves this recognition. Safe bet that it’s going to take many more significant changes to right this place.
Grats Bart. You earned it.
Congrats. Should have happened years ago.
Nice work Bartosz. Very well deserved.

@ Nye sayer
This is Bart’s moment. Kindly leave Russell out of it.
He did the best he could after reversing the creative trajectory left behind by the proctologist.
At last! A suggestion that all is not good with the modus opporandum of the proctologist. More juice please!
How does he manage to ‘radiate positive energy’? Surely he has no nerve endings! This little blue duck had a number of stints at 65 Berry Street both as an employee and as a freelancer and upon reflection theorise that the place is possessed by an anti-creative poltergeist that sucks all good things into a swirling vortex of negativity. Perhaps a start-again after a 9/11 style total destruction of the structure by hijacked jetliners is the answer.
65 Berry Street? Freelance? I’ve known Bart since he started in this business and he has never worked at Berry Street (old DDB?) or, if I’m not mistaken, freelanced. Wrong guy, but, an impressively incoherent rant nonetheless.
Ooops, my bad 8:22. Prior to it’s merger with Patts, Y&R and others used to be across the bridge in North Sydney which was the epicentre of Sydney advertising. But hey, I’m doing fine. Two decades later, the couch sessions are progressing nicely.
Bart has always been a CD – nice to have the title though.. congrats legend!
