17-Johnson-EV08-12-5599.jpgIn an Australian motorsport first, Jim Beam will cover Steve Johnson’s #17 Jim Beam Racing V8 Supercar with 25,000 photos of their fans for the Armor All Gold Coast 600. In an additional move, the Wanna B Famous major prize will see the competition winner’s name replace Johnson’s name on the side of his V8 Supercar for round 12.

Dubbed Wanna B Famous, the competition will involve the team’s fans in a more visible manner than any Australian motorsport team has achieved before. Taking part in Johnson’s official V8 Supercar experiences, the major prize winner will live the fast paced and high profile lifestyle of a V8 Supercar driver over the entire weekend of the Armor All Gold Coast 600; participating in signing sessions, taking fans on a pit tour and hosting the official V8 Supercars after-party.

image001.jpgRay Noble, brand director – Bourbon, Jim Beam Australia, is thrilled to offer a new and unique way for fans to interact with their favourite sports team.

Says Noble: “Jim Beam Racing fans are some of the most passionate and loyal in Australia, and the Wanna B Famous campaign is a way for them to feel even closer to the team they love. This is an exciting Australia motorsport first, and it’s thanks to the innovation behind Jim Beam Racing and the  dedication to V8 Supercars that has made this possible.”

The competition will close on the 17th September, with 25,000 fans’ faces brought together in a mosaic format to form the iconic design of the team’s current livery. The impressive display will be unveiled in the week leading up to the Armor All Gold Coast 600.

Dick Johnson, team owner and racing Hall Of Fame inductee, can’t wait to see the end result.

Says Johnson: “Jim Beam Racing has had some great liveries and this is really going to take our current design to a whole new level. It’s fantastic that this time we’re getting the fans involved – as they’re the real reason we head out to the track and race every year,”

Tony Cochrane, Chairman of V8 Supercars, believes this is a pioneering opportunity for the sport.

Says Cochrane: “It’s great for our sport to be part of something unique and exciting for the fans. V8 Supercars has always been, and continues to be, a pioneering sport, so we’re only too happy to support our Official Spirit partner, Jim Beam, to bring the Wanna B Famous competition to life. We’re helping to make Australian motorsport history by featuring 25,000 fans on one of our most iconic team’s V8 Supercars and to ensure one lucky winner receives the VIP treatment.”

The Wanna B Famous competition will run through the Jim Beam Australia Facebook Page, where fans can upload a photo to be part of the competition. The competition is only available to Australian residents over the age of 18.
