Sixty40 creates stereoscopic animated segments for brand new Australian film Storm Surfers 3D

storm.jpgSixty40 was tasked to create animated segments for the new Storm Surfers 3D film directed by Justin McMillan, produced by Firelight Productions and featuring Tom Carroll and Ross Clarke-Jones.

In what might be a first for Australian cinema, Sixty40 created stereoscopic content from hand drawn artwork, creating a convincing sense of space and movement in post-production.

This combined the three pillars of Sixty40’s 12 year reign: Love of Illustration. Love of narrative and the Love of technology to support the two.

The segments focus on giving life and depth to memories of the protagonists of the film and take the viewer to places a camera could never get to.

Illustrated by Matt Taylor, and composited in stereoscopic 3D as if we were seeing ultra-slow motion moments in the past.

Sixty40 also created the production company’s pre-roll logo animation in this stereoscopic illustrative style.
