DMCI appoints Anne Miles as general manager
Design and director collective, The DMC Initiative (DMCI) has appointed Anne Miles (formerly Robinson) to the role of general manager to spearhead the company during its growth phase.
Miles was initially consulting with DMCI to help the company manage extensive growth achieved through business wins. DMCI recently picked up four PromaxBDA International Awards, including the coveted Gold for ‘Best Branding’; bringing their tally to 10 awards in the last 12 months alone.
Having worked in advertising, film, visual effects and marketing industries, Miles’ extensive experience includes roles in various multinational advertising agencies such as Grey Worldwide, McCann-Erickson, Young & Rubicon, Lowe and J. Walter Thompson. Prior to her role at DMCI, Miles was consulting to the advertising and film industries on a range of areas including business, marketing, HR strategies, workflow and operations. Her clients included Post Modern Design & VFX, Spinifex Interactive and 3C Creative Agency. Miles also started up Exit Films in Melbourne, produced for industry legends Rey Carlson and John Lyons and was senior producer in visual effects at Fuel VFX.
Says Miles: “DMCI is one of the most innovative businesses I have come across, and with such integrity (creative and otherwise). It is very exciting to be back into a highly creative environment every day and one that has such a great offering in a downturn market. I’m excited to be part of a community where my broad skills are such a good fit and being multi-talented is welcomed and fostered.”
A student of RMIT in Melbourne, Miles fast-tracked her career by becoming head of TV at McCann-Erickson at 21 years of age. Miles was instrumental in pioneering in-house film production (at J. Walter Thompson, Melbourne) and post production in agencies (at Grey Worldwide), and was one of the first to explore shooting on new digital formats. Miles has worked on several award winning projects that have picked up Australian and global awards such as AWARD, MADC, Clio Awards (New York) and Cannes Lion.
Says Paul Meredith, DMCI managing director: “It’s a great opportunity for DMCI to have Anne with us. Our business has grown at a rapid pace over the last year, and Anne brings a great balance of effective process with the right creative understanding; something which is important to us.”
Miles is also a trained business and executive coach and neuro-linguistics practitioner. In her spare time, she loves to write and has already penned five books to date (two up on Amazon).
