Brisbane marketers are set to experience a little taste of the South of France at Brisbannes, the city’s annual Cannes contender night at the Palace Barracks Cinema in Paddington

It is the brainchild of Jonathan Drapes, creative director of Junior and GPY&R creative group head, Brendan Greaney (pictured left to right).

Brisbannes is a joint initiative of Brisbane’s advertising agencies, hosted by the Communications Council, aimed at exposing the city’s marketing community to world class creativity.

Brisbannes Logo.jpgGuests at the event will be treated to some of this year’s best creative work from around the world as well as hearing from two keynote speakers who will share the secrets of their recent success at Cannes.

They are Matt Bruhn, the marketing director behind Bundaberg Rum’s ‘Watermark’ campaign and Mark Sareff, strategic planner on Tontine’s ‘Dated Pillows’ work.

Says Russ Vine, current chair of The Communication Council’s Queensland committee: “We were looking for an event where we could champion the idea Screen shot 2012-05-29 at 6.04.19 PM.jpgthat creativity equals effectiveness and Brisbannes is the perfect platform.

“The response from sponsors, member agencies and their clients has been strong across the board and it’s fantastic to see the city’s marketing community getting together to make sure we keep raising the bar.”
