Loud & Clear to launch Strike Bowling client using helium balloons and the power of Facebook
In the vein of ‘Up’ and ‘Danny Deckchair’, Strike Bowling has teamed up with Loud & Clear Creative for the first ever flight of a human using the power of ‘likes’.
Simon Osborne, Strike’s social media manager, will be attached to hundreds of helium balloons lifting him into the air in celebration of the launch of the Strike Bowling Bar in Melbourne Central.
This stunt will use real world action to stimulate the online community by encouraging people to like a brand on facebook. This creative first will see Strike gaining upwards of 5000 likes in just one day.
Marketing Manager Matt McIntosh knew he wanted to do something different than their normal campaigns and knew that Loud&Clear would be able to create a successful campaign, and highlight Strike’s spirit of fun at the same time.
Says McIntosh: “We just thought we’re launching a venue on level 3, so why not launch a person up to level 3 at the same time while making social media come alive.”
In another first, the ‘launch’ will be live streamed via Strike’s Facebook page where viewers can watch and win prizes.
Followers can also engage via the hash tag ‘#wehaveafloater’ on Twitter.
With every Facebook like received, the nozzle on the helium will be turned and the balloons will continue to fill throughout the day, slowly lifting Osborne off the ground.
To further encourage social interaction there will be giveaways and prizes such as $1000 Melbourne Central shopping spree and tickets to the VIP launch party.

Didn’t Cancer Council just lift someone up with balloons?
Lame.
Yeah TSW looks like Cancer Council tried something similar in 2009 http://youtu.be/sDzuQF1xQLk
Looks like Strike got a little bit more airborne though http://youtu.be/p8c8awHmT9w
