Richard Boland to general manager role at GPY&R Brisbane as MD Mike Harris exits
GPY&R Brisbane has elevated Director of Strategy and Client Service, Richard Boland (left) to the position of agency General Manager, with current Managing Director, Mike Harris set to leave the agency at the end of May.
Harris first joined the Brisbane agency, as its GM 7.5 years ago, after stints at George Patterson Melbourne and Sydney.
On his decision to leave the agency Harris said, “I’ve had a fantastic two and a half years as MD of GPY&R Brisbane. We’ve had great success, picking up significant accounts like the national Tatts Group account and a large number of Qld Govt Projects.
“I’ve chosen to move on while we’re on top. There’s a dedicated team here in place ready to keep the momentum going. After a number of years in this game I’m going to have a bit of a break and will make an announcement on what’s next shortly”.
Says Phil McDonald, Y&R Group Managing Director in Queensland: “Mike has been a great partner for me and our management team over the years. You wouldn’t meet a nicer bloke on a 10 day march.
“He’s been instrumental in our success and he has helped make GPY&R Brisbane a great place to work. He is respected by staff and clients alike and he leaves as a great friend of the agency.”
On Boland’s appointment he said: “Richard has been with working with the agency and our clients for over 5 years now, he is a great strategist and leader and he will do a fantastic job as GM of GPY&R.”
GPY&R Brisbane won the 2011, B&T State Agency of the Year and took out the largest pitch in Queensland last November when it won the national Tatts Lottery business.

Congrats Rich! I guess you’re ok 🙂
We will miss you Mike. A real gentleman you are.
You’re a class act, Mr H. You’ve well and truly earned your break in a world free of clients and full of thoroughbreds. Congrats to you too, Rich.
Rich will be a fine replacement for MH. go balistic Boland!
What the article omits when it says “stints at George Pattersons Sydney and Melbourne” is that this stretches back over about 25+ years Another of the stalwarts of Patts moves on. Mike you deserve a well earned rest! Good on ya mate!
