Boundary Road Brewery gets around NZ’s IP decision in new campaign via Barnes Catmur
This billboard, created by Barnes Catmur & Friends, Auckland, was created to highlight the disputed New Zealand Intellectual Property Office trademark decision that protects DB Breweries, Monteiths Radler brand beer.
Internationally, radler (cyclist in German) dates back to the 1920s and describes a shandy-style light beer, of Bavarian origin. Radler has always been a generic name. Trademarking the word is similar to trademarking terms like Lager, Pilsner or Ale.
When Boundary Road Brewery were refused permission to describe their beer as being a “radler”, because of DB Breweries’ trademark, they used this billboard to appeal to the court of public opinion. A lawyer’s letter has been received.

Don’t then.
tone of voice is like a sulking child, crap
In this case topical fails to mean even slightly interesting
Why are people so unkind?
That bottle is casting a very wide shadow.
This beer (as with all radlers) should be big in the gay, female & softcock markets.
