Navy launches ‘Navy Sink ‘Em’ iPhone game aimed at potential recruits via GPY&R Melbourne
George Patterson Y&R, Melbourne has taken the Royal Australian Navy into uncharted digital waters with a new iPhone game designed to educate and lure new recruits.
Navy SINK’EM, a multiplayer turn-based game, was designed and developed by the agency. By commanding real Navy ships, frigates and submarines, players can challenge multiple friends to simultaneous battles on the world’s oceans sinking enemy and sharing their achievements with friends on Facebook.
Since its launch three weeks ago, Navy Sink’EM has been downloaded well over 4000 times, and hit the top 25 free iPhone apps on Apple’s App Store. It’s made the top 14 Strategy games amongst Australian iPhone users.
The game has also been a hit with the App store critics, with most giving SINK’EM a 4/5 star rating and plenty of positive feedback.
The edutainment nature of the game lets players explore job roles currently available on each specific Navy vessel, driving web traffic to specific job description pages for enquiries.

“Battleships”, but now on an iPhone right?
Crud.
“By commanding real Navy ships, frigates and submarines…” So if you pick the Collins class sub your phone starts making loud noises, shakes and then falls apart. You’re then emailed with a billion dollar phone bill, for the app that destroyed your phone.
Should do well at MADC
Uncharted digital waters for GPY&R maybe, but not for Recruiting or the Navy. They’ve had app and iPhone games in the market for a while now.
And not a word about the guys whom actually built it?? Nice.
Can they do a version where you sink refugees?
… Or who actually designed it.
