black book.jpgThe Dam Armada is a new business unit within Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam made up of creative developers and designers dedicated to the development of digital products.

With special emphasis on innovation, The Dam Armada is a collaborative and pioneering unit that will turn ideas into products. From digital apps to installations, The Dam Armada will work for existing W+K and non-W+K clients. The unit will also create and develop products that will be sold independently on the Android and iTunes markets.

The launch of two developer-oriented tools will be announced soon.

Says Lee Newman, managing director of W+K Amsterdam:  “As an independent agency we have the latitude to experiment and we try to foster a spirit of entrepreneurialism. The Dam Armada is a perfect example of it. This really is a different model and requires a different mindset. Rather than answering client briefs the Dam Armada has the freedom to dream up digital ideas and the skill to bring them to life.”

The Dam Armada was the brainchild of Jordi Martinez (ex-Crispin Porter Bogusky & DoubleYou). With over 10 years creative and development experience on brands such as Nike, Coke, Honda, Burger King and VW, Jordi will lead The Dam Armada team.

Says Martinez: “The Dam Armada is an opportunity to surprise and delight clients with ideas that go beyond their expectations. It’s about proactively developing digital opportunities for brands, working beyond the scope of the briefs we’re given. We are crafters, so we create unique tailor made interactive experiences.”
