Pedigree Adoption Drive unleashed via Whybin\ Tequila to find homes for 6,000 homeless dogs
Leading supermarket pet brand Pedigree has partnered with not-for-profit organisation, PetRescue, for the fourth year running to champion The Pedigree Adoption Drive with an innovative mobile and Facebook App set to ignite consumer interest.
Collaborating on the campaign are creative agencies Whybin\TBWA\Tequila, Sydney and Integer Australia, media strategy and buying agency Starcom, and public relations agency DEC Communications.
The annual initiative has become synonymous with saving the lives of thousands of homeless dogs through adoption by raising awareness of the issue among the Australian community. To-date, more than 10,000 dogs have found new homes directly through the Pedigree Adoption Drive. However, with an alarming 100,000 homeless dogs predicted to be euthanased in Australia in 2011, there is still a big job to do.
Kicking off on Sunday 31 July, this year’s campaign will address the issue of dog homelessness via a ten week integrated communications campaign spanning print and online advertising, digital engagement, public relations and social media, as well as direct-to-consumer activations and point-of-sale.
New to the campaign is the highly innovative Dog-a-Like ‘app’, developed in Australia. The new app, available via the iTunes Store, Android Market and Facebook, uses advanced facial recognition technology to match individuals with dogs available for adoption in the online PetRescue database.
The campaign will feature in a direct-to-consumer activation at Bondi Beach in Sydney on Saturday 3 September – where an impactful experience will highlight the plight of homeless dogs through a visual and interactive installation.
Throwing their support behind the campaign in 2011 are dog-loving ambassadors including Rachael Finch, Classic Hits presenter Jono Coleman and Tom Williams. This year, Williams will feature in a webisode series to be aired on the Pedigree Adoption Drive YouTube page and Facebook page following his journey to adopt a new dog through PetRescue.
Australians wanting to get involved should log onto pedigreeadoptiondrive.com.au or www.facebook.com/pedigreeadoptiondriveaustralia to adopt, donate, volunteer or find out how buying Pedigree helps homeless dogs.

Tops idea and a good cause. It’s great to see a brand actually giving something back.

Simultaneous, identical Oz & NZ brief?
Nice idea. Good cause.
this has been debated before, both versions including whybins have been around for a while and both were entered into cannes
It seems Integer CD Gav McLeod will always be dogged by pet adoption briefs whichever agency he goes to.
Seriously, who cares if it’s been done before or at the same time. It saved the life of 6000 dogs. Can’t we all just give that a little applause?
Jesus people, there’s more to advertising than awards.
