Award-winning Aussie editor Zen Rosenthal lured to General Editorial in Santa Monica

ZenRosenthal.jpgAward-winning Aussie editor Zen Rosenthal has been lured from Sydney-based The Editors to General Editorial in Santa Monica. Rosenthal, who has worked on a diverse range of projects including commercials, documentaries, music videos, and short films, joins General Editorial’s team of editors: Noah Herzog, Matt Dunlap, and Addison James.

Says General Editorial E.P. Robert Parker: “We just felt an immediate rapport with him as a person. We’re really looking forward to introducing him to the US market.”

Working at The Editors in Sydney, Zen has collaborated with some of Australia’s leading ad agencies and production companies including Droga5, TBWA, M&C Saatchi, The Glue Society, Revolver Films and @radical.media. He shared a Pencil for Best Editing at the AWARD Awards for the VB ‘The Regulars’ commercial. The spot went on to win a Gold Lion at Cannes and a Yellow Pencil at D&AD.

VB_Regulars.pngOther career highlights include the acclaimed BBC/ABC documentary “How Kevin Bacon Cured Cancer,” for which Zen received the Australian Film Institute Award (Australia’s highest film honors) for Best Editing in a Documentary. Zen was also awarded The Australian Screen Editors Guild Award for Best Editing in a Short Film for “Bleeders” and edited the AFI-nominated and multi-award winning short film ‘fOUR.” He was invited to the Berlin International Film Festival to represent Australia at the Berlinale talent campus.

General Editorial is proud of its style of collaborative work with directors and agency creatives. Some of the directors who have worked with GE in 2011 are Max Malkin, Filip Engstrom, Brian Beletic, Jeffery Plansker and Stylewar. Recent projects include Verizon with McCann NY, Corona with Cramer-Krasselt Chicago, and Acura with RPA.
