The addition of Barlow and Ming (image by Ming left) compliments the existing line up and enables Look to offer Sydney based photographers in a variety of styles in all the major specialist areas.

James Moritz and Jose Manuel Vidaurre (image shot by Vidaurre below) join Daniela Federici and Paul Ross Jones as major overseas based photographers of note represented by Look.

“Paul is available toshoot in Australia any time or clients can go to New Zealand to shoot with with him. Forthe first time we are also able to offer USA based photographers to work withAustralian creatives who could not previously consider using them due tocost. It could be a greatopportunity for creatives to get out of town and shoot something new; overseasshoot production trips are regularly enjoyed by their Asian creativecounterparts,” says EP/ Sen Producer Guy Venables who is based in Sydney.

Pre-GFC and the risingAustralia dollar, Look was shooting a balance of work for Sydney, Melbourne and Asian clients.

The increased value of theAustralian dollar is now a huge problem for all photographers and productioncompanies trying to sell their services in the Asia region, says Venables.

As a result Look isnow focussed on producing shoots for the local Sydney and Melbourne advertisingagencies, as well as offering photographers the facilities to shoot locally inAsia via production partners.

After many years in thebackground working on a variety of related production businesses in TV andprint, Venables is now back heading up the production office in Sydney and bringswith him a wealth of international shoot production experience.

Having foundedthe commercial photographers rep industry in Australia in 1988, for18 of Look’s 21 years Venables has been marketing Australia/NZ photographers anddirectors to the Asia region. He’s twice chaired craft juries at Asia’s major international ad festivals Adfest 2006 and Adstars 2010.

“In the 90s I wasrepping and producing for most of the biggest names in Australian adphotography today, for example, Harsent, Butterworth, Smetana, Corridore, Izzard, Clarke,Heery, Sullivan, etc, we mergedFolio and Look in the late 90s,” he says.

Look was managed by Suzanne Chamberlain from1990 until 2006 then staff managed Sydney and Melbourne production officesuntil Venables took over day to day production management in 2010.

“It is great to beback in touch with the Aus/NZ market and many industry friends. It has been amazing to witness the changesin the agent/photo shoot production industry over the years. The industry hasproliferated over the last decade in Aus/NZ/Asia  and its great that the art buyer role in ad agencies has alsoarrived,” he says.
