DOP Ross Giardina nominated for Best Cinematography at Camerimage Poland

Ross Still Press.jpegDOP Ross Giardina was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Camerimage Cinematography Festival Poland for the short film, Legend.

The 20 minute film was directed by Stephen De Villiers and written by Judy Morris. It was shot in 2009 on the RED camera over five days in several Sydney locations.

Legend tells the tale of Harley and his younger brother Cliff, andtheir attempts to escape their abusive father. When Harley steps in toprotect his brother, both boys end up in hospital with direconsequences.

It was one of the four films to form the featurelength AFTRS/NIDA co-production, Before the Rain and was then releasedas a stand alone short.

“Legend allowed me to create a look forthe film that was instilled by the characters and their journey,” saysGiardina. “Camerimage is the holy grail for cinematographers and I hadno idea about this until going to the event. With names such as DionBeebe, Wally Psifer, Vittorio Storraro and Matt Libatique to name a fewin attendance, I was incredibly humbled to be nominated in the shortscategory.”
