Cheil appoints Swinton to lead agency’s growth in Australia – Keun Ho Kim appointed deputy MD
In a move aimed at jump-starting its business activity in the south-east market, Korea’s largest marketing agency, Cheil Worldwide has appointed Andrew Swinton as managing director and Keun Ho Kim, deputy managing director of Cheil Australia – both to be based out of Sydney.
Well regarded in south-east Asia and European advertising circles and armed with 17 years of experience, Swinton (left) was a pillar behind McCann-Erickson’s development internationally. He spent a total of 11 years with McCann-Erickson in Sydney, Saigon, UK and Frankfurt.
In 2006, he then moved to Publicis Mojo Sydney, where he served as director for the P&G, Nestle Purina accounts. His career spans across regional and international brands, including P&G, Nestle in Australia, Opel in Germany, GM in the UK and Coca-Cola in Vietnam.
Prior to joining Cheil, Keun Ho Kim (left) was group account director at Ogilvy & Mather, based in the Sydney office overlooking the IBM account. He also worked at the Ogilvy & Mather offices in Sydney and Seoul for eight years, where his last post was managing director. Kim worked as a marketing communications consultant for numerous clients, including IBM, Motorola, Kia Motors, both regionally and locally. Kim will report to Swinton and SJ Kimm, president of Cheil Southeast Asia.
“We couldn’t be more excited to have Andrew and Keun Ho on board to lead the growth of Cheil Australia. With Andrew and Keun Ho’s knowledge and experience in local leadership, there will be huge potential to see Cheil Australia grow into a top-tier agency,” says Kimm.

Good on you Swinton. Top bloke
Enjoy your retirement.
Good luck Andrew. You’re a top bloke and Chiel are lucky to have you at the helm.
Congrats Andrew.
Congrats mate! Well deserved!
Mojo’s loss is very definitely Cheil’s gain. Mojo will be wringing their hands nervously in a few months. Now you just need the right team behind you and… well…the sky’s the limit.
Not much talent left at Mojo now is there?
– One client : Samsung
– Owner of Agency: Samsung
– Location of Agency: Inside Samsung
– Business priority: Samsung
– Growth from additional clients: Try asking Samsung
Good luck!

AdAge.com – Cheil Worldwide is no longer a division of the Korean electronics giant Samsung Group … but it hasn’t figured out how to convince the rest of the world.

Good luck Andrew & Keun Ho. I’d love to build a new agency with a core client like Samsung.
It will still have an uphill battle as Korean business culture in very deeply intrenched. It is still very reliant on the Samsung business and whilst it still has an office inside the Samsung building, it will find it very difficult to build local credibility in the market,
Samsung will continue to demand all or nothing from Cheil….its always been that kind of client. I wish them the best of luck too….a clean slate would be a great start.
