NSW’s Neil Johnson top AWARD School student
AWARD School, which is run by the Communications Council, announced its top students today. NSW AWARD School winner Neil Johnston took out top honours for the Australasian AWARD student of the year. His Victorian counterpart, Tim Harding, placed second, while Josephine Burns, top student at the Queensland AWARD School, made the third spot.
Johnston, currently at Three Drunk Monkeys, welcomed the honour: “Doing AWARD School was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, as it taught me loads and helped me get the job I really wanted. Winning on the national stage is a nice added bonus.”
AWARD Schools across Australia announced their top students at their respective graduations, with their top students going forward for judging across Australasia.
Dustin Lane, and Rebecca Carrasco, the AWARD School Heads, who judged the top students, congratulated the students and thanked this year’s jurors, tutors and lecturers for their contribution to fostering the new generation of creatives.
Says Carrasco: “We had great support again this year. The lecturers were world-class CD’s and the tutors were among our industry’s best creatives. AWARD School is, and always has been, about ideas so exposure to this level of talent makes all the difference to the students. A big congrats to those who came out on top and well done to all who finished. We hope you stay passionate about ideas.”
Adds Lane: “Well done to our top students. To get through the tough selection for AWARD school and then to come out on top in the results is a real achievement. The creative thinking and tools you have acquired during AWARD school obviously served you well, we hope it will continue to do so.”
AWARD School 2011 will kick off again in March 2011.
