hat’s off. this is brilliant
Well done. Very, very good.
So simple, so effective. Love it. Love everything about it.
Gold. This is so damn good; I’ve watched it about five times. Inspiring stuff. This is proof that not all work that goes up on the blog gets bagged.
I hate negativity, so apologies in advance. ‘Hardchorus’ IS fucking funny, and I would love it on my reel….but certainly not flawless. The Italian one is all that. The guys are threateningly hilarious and seems worthy of each accolade above. The English one seems a bit flat by the second verse and while the guys are with out a doubt ” ‘ard”, they could have spat the lyrics at me a bit more, go a bit more animated and look less like they wanted to be hugged at an AA meeting or get on Idol. The T shirt at the end is dead weak…but I’l blame that on client product. I feel like a bitch for writing this, don’t black ball me guys.
I’ll join the chorus. Fantastic.
brilliant. From an English POV this is going to be huge.
The papers here are already all over this. Best part is it’s the real club diehards singing.
Game changing!
I raise my Stanley knife high in admiration. Simple, not overly directed, great casting, brilliant piece of strategy. Will win around the world. And it should. Me jealous.
I love it. It almost makes me want a soccer hooligan for a husband. Great idea. Great execution. Goosebumps when you watch it.
Imagine, if you will, this ad had been done in Australia. Same casting, same song, same director. In fact exactly the same as it appears here except…. the client is V8 Supercars. Still almost as brilliant, but V8 Supercars would have saved themselves a couple of million dollars and had a much better ad.
Conclusion: money does not equal great work.
Love it!
I disagree 11.12pm. I think the English one is spot on. Well directed, well cast and gave me that ‘wish I’d done it’ feeling.
Hooligans. Love it.
Fantastic.
Made my bum tingle…in a hard masculine way of course.
Shame they couldn’t do an Aussie version but there’s not a lot you can do with fans renown for Oi Oi Oi
Smart, simple, brilliant.
A little long, I went and checked the weather online (late storm in Melb this arvo) and came back half way through.
Nice spot though, let the Droga hype begin. Cannes only 4 months away!
David Droga’s agencies sure get some great briefs!
i like it the first time.
after that it gets f’ing annoying.
‘ere’s yer fucking april showers luv. i’m off to the football.
love everything about it. i’m sending to me mum too.
Love it. But it doesn’t feel very Puma to me.
Great to see an ad that stars a bunch of blokes with a decent fucking haircut and sideburns for a change.
Brilliant. Sing a love song like a team war-cry.
Done.
Ted is exceptional, you have to give him that.
I think it is game changing and as someone said above, not over directed. The long format will surely have cut through and will certainly get blogged to death over the next week or so.
It may not seem to feel like Puma (if you look at the brand to date), but it’s so strong it will surely define a new attitude for them. If that’s what they are intending, of course. I like the differentiation from the usual brand feel of nike & adidas.
Touching, great idea. Love that cheesiness. Congrats for getting the clients approval, that couldn’t have been easy.
It takes a smart client to buy work as simple as this.
They are lucky to have so many brave clients.
Well if Puma’s about real fans & chavs instead of elite athletes, this could be a great shift.
However I’ll be throwing my gear out if it ever gets associated with houso’s and westies here. Probably a good move for Puma, that’s where the moolah is.
Lovely and so bloody simple.
Fookin’ mad likes.
Brilliant. Just fucking brilliant.
The Italian one is great too, if you know the song and anything about ultras.
savage garden is heaps better than pink
I love it because it doesn’t feel like advertising.
FUCKING.GOLD.
So epic.
So simple.
So emotional.
So smart.
So real.
So good.
Fuck Droga5 pisses me off.
Ok.
Lynchy won’t print this, but I dare him to.
I’ll be the one that speaks the truth.
I’m a Football fan, a Football nut even and I can assure you that I won’t be sending this on to my better half.
Why would I want to send a a film to the lady i love where a pissed up bunch of hooligans in Chav clothing (yep Puma is Chav) tell her that i would rather be at the football then with her.
I have seen enough pissed up mockneys singing in football ads. This is not going to convince to put on a Chav Puma shirt and go “yeah, you really relate to me” beacuse you don’t.
The only reaon people like it is because it comes from Droga 5. If it had come from M&C Saatchi everyone would have said what a load of chav poop.
And the thing that realy crates with me, is that they obviously don’y know football because match day is Saturday. There’s a few games on sunday, but match day is Saturday.
As the mod father Mr Weller once wrote “Saturday’s boys live life with insults,
Drink lots of beer and wait for half time results”.
Saturday is match day. NOT bloody Sunday!
The film does the opposite of what it’s supposed to.
It will not increase sales, but it will cement in everyones minds that pissed up Chavs slurping larger in run down council estate boozers all wear Puma.
And if they wear it, I don’t want to.
All the comments about this being a Game changing-Gold winning ad is absolute tosh.
Get real people. Be honest. You’ll like youselves much more.
awesome, awesome, awesome.
Voice of reason
it is being screened in the UK on sunday during the bolton spurs match which is on valentines day, its topical advertising.
in italy most of the games are played sunday every week.
get over yourself and you will probably like yourself more.
FA club games are on Sunday, Biatch.
Anon 10.39 pm
You are obviously not a football fan.
One game on a Sunday.
And lets face it a pretty poor game at that.
Match day is SATURDAY.
It’s an ad for Chavs.
End of.
And i got over myself years ago, maybe you should try it some time.
I could see the SS doing this for Hugo Boss in 1944. If only they had the technology they might have won the war..
Puma is for piss pots who go to the footy to beat the crap out of others and then go home and beat the shit out of their wives.
This is,brand destroying and woeful.
Sorry.
Nick Nike…I couldn’t agree more.
Good to see some sanity prevail on this comments page.
