DO MORE THAN JUST REMEMBER THIS ANZAC DAY
The Returned & Services League of Australia (Queensland Branch) is appealing to Queenslanders to give this ANZAC Day in memory of those who have served our country in war and peace.
The RSL (QLD Branch) has established the Eternal Flame Foundation (EFF) to meet the increasing welfare needs of our ageing veteran community and to assist those who may not be entitled to benefits from other sources.
In support of the EFF charitable foundation, Clemenger BBDO, Sydney has produced a heartfelt advertisement which depicts the sacrifices our Diggers made fighting for Australia.
RSL (QLD Branch) Marketing & Community Relations Manager, Kathy Davis, said the advertisement reminds us that ANZAC Day is for commemoration and reflection.
“The concept is powerfully emotive and we are grateful to Clemenger BBDO for providing this creative ad as a community service to the RSL,” she said.
“Many Diggers cannot afford the care and services that could alleviate their suffering and the Eternal Flame Foundation will assist these veterans by providing direct funding and welfare assistance.”

This year, the RSL proudly celebrates 90 years of care, commemoration and community involvement. Public support of the Eternal Flame Foundation appeal is critical.

Sitting down at the Inverloch beach today my friends and I payed our respects with a minutes silence. Looking out over the glistening water I thought to myself ‘this beautiful country is truly worth the sacrifice’.
Lest you forget in future, you paid your respects (not payed). But I agree with your sentiment, it was a great day for a great country.

Just for the record, my Grandfather fought with the Aussies in WW2 after the Juno beach landings.He had an absolute love for the Anzac troops, they were brave, resolute and never left a mate. They were fucking good shots too apparantly.RIP.

Sadly, we always forget the sacrifces made at Galipolli by the British, Indians, Gurhkas, and the French. We may have lost 11000 anzacs, but the Poms lost 40,000, the Indians/Gurkhas 1500, and the French 50,000. We can’t claim it all for ourselves – it’s not like the Commonwealth Games coverage.
And 90,000 plus Turks died too.

It is NOT something shared with the English.The only thing is has to do with the english is that many young ANZACS in Gallipoli were needlessly sent to their deaths by guess who the ENGLISH!If you’re going to discuss Aust, history at least know a bit about it. Anzac day is dead. or it should be. it’s time to move on. My grandfather spent 4 years as a POW in Germany. But he didn’t do it for king and country or any other reason than he was forced to go do it. In his words, it was all bullshit. him , the other POWS and their captors were all little pawns in the evil plans of powerful men. and now every year we venerate this endless of supply of sheep to the slaughter. We perpetuate the system, honour the process and provide it with a reason to exist.
